TNG Digital marks next phase of growth as TNG eWallet evolves beyond payments into an everyday digital companion
TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd. (“TNG Digital”), the operator of Malaysia’s leading digital financial services and lifestyle app, TNG eWallet, today announced a major milestone in the company’s growth as the platform expands beyond payments to become a broader everyday digital companion for Malaysians.
For a typical Malaysian user today, a single morning might involve checking their GOfinance savings balance, topping up a Touch ‘n Go card for the commute, discovering a lunch deal at a nearby restaurant, and earning rewards, all within one app, without a second thought about payments.
Against this backdrop, TNG eWallet has grown from a payment utility into a platform used daily across financial services, travel, rewards, and lifestyle needs.
Today, TNG eWallet serves more than 26 million verified users, with 13.5 million Malaysians actively using the app every month. On average, active users engage with the platform twice a day.
The company said the strongest signal of this evolution is now visible in its business mix. For the first time since TNG Digital’s inception, non-payment businesses contribute more than half of the company’s total revenue, marking a significant shift beyond its original payments foundation.
This reflects the rapid shift in consumer behaviour towards digital wallets in Malaysia in recent years. Industry data from Bank Negara Malaysia show that e-money transaction volume and value have grown significantly over the past five years, surpassing the combined volume of debit and credit cards as digital payments become increasingly embedded in everyday life.
Growth has been driven by increasing adoption across financial services, travel, remittance, merchant solutions, advertising, and other ecosystem offerings within the platform.
TNG Digital’s expansion beyond Malaysia is also gaining momentum. Cross-border, remittance, and international services now contribute 10% of total revenue, up from virtually no contribution just a few years ago, highlighting growing demand for seamless cross-border financial services among Malaysians.
Beyond its consumer platform, TNG Digital is also building new growth engines across business and digital infrastructure services. Revenue from business-to-business offerings, including advertising, digital infrastructure services, and merchant value-added services, now contributes 6% of total revenue, reflecting the company’s expansion beyond consumer-facing services.
To reflect this shift in how Malaysians use the platform, TNG Digital is embarking on a redesign of the TNG eWallet app, starting with the homepage, rolling out to users from 4 June. Built around a search-first experience, the revamped homepage allows users to instantly access services and features without navigating through multiple layers within the app. And this is just the beginning, with more updates and improvements on the way.
Four hubs have been prominently placed on the homepage quick access section to surface the platform’s most-used ecosystems: GOfinance for financial services, Near Me to discover food and beverage deals nearby, Bills for utilities and recurring payments, and Transport for commuting and travel needs.
The bottom navigation bar has also been simplified and reorganised around the features users use most frequently, designed specifically for one-handed use, a deliberate choice that reflects how most users engage with the app on the go.

The redesign is not about adding more features. It reflects how TNG eWallet has evolved beyond a payments interface into a connected ecosystem experience, where users increasingly move between financial services, commerce, travel, and lifestyle needs within a single platform.
Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital, said the company is seeing a fundamental shift in how Malaysians use the platform.
“TNG eWallet is no longer just a payment app. Malaysians are using us to manage different parts of their everyday lives, from growing their money and travelling overseas to paying bills and earning rewards.
The strongest proof of that shift is that more than half of our revenue today comes from businesses beyond payments. Our ambition now is clear: To be the everyday digital companion that makes Malaysians’ lives genuinely easier. That means not adding more features for the sake of it, but deepening how people use the services they already rely on, with experiences that feel more personal and more useful each time they open the app.”
Chiew Wei Wing, Chief Product and Growth Officer of TNG Digital, said the refreshed experience reflects how users already engage with the platform today.
“Over the years, TNG eWallet has expanded far beyond payments. The new experience brings our ecosystem together in one place, making everyday services easier to discover and use.
What that means in practice is a homepage you can search, hubs that take you directly to the services you need, and a navigation bar designed so you never have to stretch your thumb. The goal is a platform that feels like it already knows how you live.”
As Malaysia’s digital economy continues to mature, TNG Digital believes the next phase of growth for digital platforms will be shaped not just by payments, but by how seamlessly financial services, commerce, travel, and lifestyle experiences come together within a single ecosystem.
For TNG Digital, today’s milestone and the refreshed TNG eWallet experience mark the beginning of that next chapter, not the full story. An everyday digital companion is, by nature, always evolving, shaped by how its users live, what they need, and how those needs change over time. Malaysians can expect more updates ahead, each grounded in the same principles: making the platform simpler, more personal, and more useful in the moments that matter most.
