TNG Digital included in the UNGCMYB ESG Select List 2025 for advancing financial inclusion at scale
TNG Digital Sdn. Bhd., the operator of Malaysia’s leading digital financial services and lifestyle app, TNG eWallet, has been included in the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia and Brunei ESG Select List 2025, reflecting the company’s steady progress in advancing financial inclusion through responsible and sustainable business practices.
TNG Digital was named a 2-Star Lister under the ESG Breakthrough Innovation and Purposeful Partnership categories. The ESG Select List is a sustainability recognition framework that highlights companies demonstrating measurable progress aligned with the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The recognition reflects TNG Digital’s consistent efforts to expand access to safe and practical digital financial services for communities that are often underserved or excluded from the formal financial system. By leveraging TNG eWallet as a widely used and accessible platform, the company focuses on enabling more people to participate in the digital economy in a secure and practical way.
Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital, said, “This recognition reflects how we approach financial inclusion as part of our core business, not as a separate initiative. We focus on building digital financial tools that people can use in real life, every day. Progress matters to us because access to safe and seamless digital finance can make a meaningful difference to how people improve the quality of lives.”
One area of impact is financial access for refugee and asylum seeker communities in Malaysia. The country is home to more than 214,000 registered refugees and asylum seekers, many of whom rely on informal, cash-based transactions due to limited access to formal financial services. Through a collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) that began in February 2025, more than 43,000 refugees and asylum seekers have gained access to essential digital financial services via TNG eWallet as of December 2025. This represents approximately 20% of the registered refugee population in Malaysia.
At the community level, TNG Digital also works to widen participation in the digital economy through its Let’s Duit programme. Built on partnerships with community organisations and Members of Parliament, starting with Kluang, Johor, the programme has expanded to other states and reached more than 600 senior citizens in non-urban areas. Participants are equipped with practical skills to use digital financial tools with confidence in their daily lives.
Beyond social inclusion, TNG Digital has taken steps to address environmental impact through its first circular economy initiative in partnership with Arus Oil. The collaboration enables households and businesses to recycle used cooking oil and receive payments directly into their TNG eWallet, reducing pollution risks while creating economic value from waste.
Inclusion in the ESG Select List 2025 marks an important milestone in TNG Digital’s sustainability journey. It reflects the company’s continued focus on building inclusive financial ecosystems through innovation, partnerships, and solutions that deliver real, measurable impact over time.
