MONEY PACKET TRANSFER TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.0 Introduction

1.1 Physical QR Money Packet is a feature which allows users to create and distribute money packets as a gift using a physical paper money packet bearing a unique QR code. The Sender loads funds into the Money Packet by scanning the QR code on the physical envelope, and the Receiver claims the funds by scanning the same QR code, with all transactions credited to or debited from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet (“TNG eWallet”).

2.0 Creating Money Packet

2.1 Users (“Money Packet Owner” or “Sender”) will be able to send a Money Packet via the following steps:

  1. Obtain a physical Money Packet envelope bearing a unique QR code.
  2. Open the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app and tap ‘Transfer’ on the homepage.
  3. At the top of the page, select ‘Money Packet’.
  4. Tap ‘Scan Physical Money Packet’ and scan the unique QR code printed on the physical Money Packet envelope.
  5. Fill in the necessary details to create the Money Packet as shown in Table 2.1.
  6. Tap ‘Preview’ to double-check your setup.
  7. Tap ‘Create Money Packet’ to confirm your Money Packet.
  8. Upon entering your 6-digit PIN, the Money Packet will be activated and linked to the scanned physical envelope. The Sender may then physically hand the Money Packet envelope to the intended Receiver(s).

2.2 The creation of the Money Packet shall be subject to the following:

  1. Completed account verification;
  2. Not more than ten (10) ‘In-progress’ Money Packets at the same time;
  3. Sufficient balance in either eWallet or GO+ wallet; and
  4. The Money Packet amount will not hit the monthly transaction limit.

2.3 Sender’s eWallet balance will be prioritized for the creation of the Money Packet. If eWallet balance is insufficient, GO+ balance will be used to create the Money Packet.

2.4 The total sum received by each Receiver from the Money Packet will be randomised by the system with the minimum value of RM0.01.

2.5 Each Money Packet created by the Sender is only valid for twenty-four (24) hours upon the time of creation.

2.6 The Sender will only be able to view the Money Packet status as listed in the following Table 2.2 after successfully creating the Money Packet.

Table 2.2: Description for Money Packet Status

Status Description
Pending Created but the physical Money Packet has not yet been scanned by any Receiver
In progress Active and on-going; the physical Money Packet has been scanned and at least one claim has been made
Cancelled Cancelled by the Sender before ending automatically; remaining money to be refunded
Fully claimed Has been fully claimed by the Receiver(s) and no remaining balance to be refunded
Ended Ended after 24-hour validity; remaining money to be refunded

2.7 The ‘In-progress’ Money Packet can be cancelled by the Sender if the Sender wishes to end the on-going Money Packet transfer session. Upon cancellation, the QR code on the physical Money Packet will be deactivated and no further claims can be made.

2.8 If there is any unclaimed, undistributed, or remaining fund balance in a cancelled or expired Money Packet, it will be refunded automatically to the Sender’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account within 10 days.

2.9 The Sender shall be able to check past and current Money Packet activities, including status and all successful transfer transactions, under the ‘History’ section.

2.10 The Sender shall be able to see the Receiver’s personal information such as full name and received amount in the ‘Leaderboard’.

2.11 The Sender acknowledges that the Sender is solely responsible for the safekeeping of the physical Money Packet until it is handed to the intended Receiver. In the event the physical Money Packet is lost, stolen, damaged, or the QR code is scanned by an unintended recipient before the Sender delivers it, the Sender will not be entitled to claim back such sums from a non-intended Receiver and TNGD shall not be liable for any losses suffered by the Sender.

2.12 The Sender acknowledges that each physical Money Packet envelope and its unique QR code may only be used for a single Money Packet creation session. Once a Money Packet has been created, cancelled, or expired, the physical envelope and its QR code cannot be reused for a new Money Packet.

2.13 In the event the QR code on the physical Money Packet is damaged, illegible, or otherwise unscannable, the Sender may cancel the Money Packet via the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app and the remaining funds will be refunded in accordance with Clause 2.8. TNGD shall not be liable for any inconvenience or loss arising from physical damage to the Money Packet envelope.

3.0 Receiving Money Packet

3.1 Only registered Touch ‘n Go eWallet users can receive the money from the Money Packet.

3.2 Once users have received the physical Money Packet envelope bearing a valid QR code, users (“Receiver”) can use the ‘Scan’ function in the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app to scan the QR code printed on the physical Money Packet envelope and tap on “Open Now” to receive a randomized amount from the total Money Packet amount sent by the Sender.

3.3 In order to successfully claim a Money Packet, the Receiver shall ensure the following:

  1. Receive money once only from one (1) Money Packet;
  2. The receiving money amount does not cause the Receiver to exceed the Wallet balance limit;
  3. The Money Packet is still in ‘In progress’ status; and
  4. Not receiving the Receiver’s own Money Packet.

3.4 The Receiver shall be able to view all received money transactions from the Money Packet at the Money Packet page under the ‘History’ section, or else, through ‘Transaction History’ on the homepage.

3.5 The Receiver shall not be able to see other Receivers’ personal information such as full name and phone number in the ‘Leaderboard’.
