1.      What is the Remittance Sandbox?

The Remittance Sandbox is a trial program that allows eligible foreign workers in Malaysia to send remittances through Touch ‘n Go eWallet without requiring a local bank account. This initiative is approved by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). It is designed to test alternative digital identity verification methods for eWallet users, specifically using work visa verification combined with live facial recognition to authenticate and verify users securely.

2.      Who is eligible to participate?

The sandbox is open to foreign workers from 11 selected countries:

a). Indonesia

b). Bangladesh

c). The Philippines

d). Nepal

e). India

f). Pakistan

g). Thailand

h). Vietnam

i). Sri Lanka

j). Singapore

k). Cambodia

To participate, users must have:

a)      A valid passport with at least 12 months’ validity period.

b)     A valid work visa in Malaysia.

c)      No Malaysian bank account is required.

4.      What is the purpose of this Sandbox?

This sandbox provides an alternative verification method for foreign workers who do not have a local bank account, allowing them to access digital remittance services through TNG e-Wallet.

 

5.      What are the key benefits of joining the Sandbox?

a)      No Malaysian bank account is required. Eligible users can send remittances without needing a Malaysian bank account.

b)     Convenience – Send money directly from TNG e-Wallet to approved remittance destinations.

c)      Extra security for your money – Your transactions are protected with advanced security features like face verification, fraud detection, and a dedicated hotline for scam reports. TNG e-Wallet is one of the first e-Wallets in Malaysia to fully implement Bank Negara Malaysia’s security measures, offering the same level of security as banks.

 

6.      Are there any limitations?

Yes, to comply with regulatory requirements:

a)      Maximum RM3,000 per month in total remittance transactions.

b)     Maximum three transactions per month.

c)      Each user can pre-register up to 3 beneficiaries.

d)     Remittance to a home country only.

 

7.      Can I change my pre-registered beneficiaries? If so, how do I change them?

8.      How long does it take for my application to be approved?

Your application will be reviewed within 5 working days. You can check for updates or contact our support team at https://tngd.my/goremit for more information.

 

9.      What happens if I don’t use my remittance account after successful verification?

If your remittance account remains inactive for 90 days, it will be temporarily suspended and subject to reactivation. (Please refer to Clause 8 of Touch ‘n Go e-Wallet Remittance Sandbox Terms and Conditions for clarity)

You will receive notifications and warnings before any suspension occurs. Use the remittance service at least once every 90 days to prevent suspension. If your account is suspended and you wish to reactivate it, please get in touch with our Remittance Customer Support team via this form https://tngd.my/goremit for assistance.

 

10. What happens when the Sandbox period ends?

Once the sandbox ends:

a)      You will be notified in advance about the program’s conclusion.

b)     If you have been previously approved to participate in the Sandbox, you will need to perform bank account validation using your Malaysian bank account to continue performing remittance transactions.

 

11. How can I exit the Sandbox?
