Touch ‘n Go Group Supports Local Merchants Through Ramadan Bazaar Initiative in Lembah Pantai
Touch ‘n Go Group stepped up its support for local merchants ahead of Ramadan through an initiative focused on improving readiness, accessibility, and ease of doing business at Ramadan bazaars. Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd sponsored 325 tents and aprons, while TNG Digital equipped 325 hawkers and small traders at Bazaria Pantai Dalam and Taman Sri Sentosa with a mix of Touch ’n Go eWallet Soundboxes and EPOS360 BlueTap devices.
As part of the initiative, 100 EPOS360 BlueTap units were sponsored by EPOS to give merchants a single, all-in-one device to manage payments with confidence. BlueTap combines tap-and-pay for TNG eWallet, instant payment confirmation, and the option to accept card payments in the near future, all on one device, helping merchants keep track of every transaction. By allowing customers to pay using any NFC-enabled smartphone, BlueTap helps democratise tap-and-pay and makes contactless payments more accessible to everyone.
The initiative was launched at a handover ceremony on 7 February 2026, attended by YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, alongside representatives from Touch ‘n Go Group, EPOS, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), and Persatuan Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil Melayu Wilayah Persekutuan, the organiser of the Ramadan bazaars. Teams from the Touch ‘n Go Group were also present at the event, with TNG Digital and EPOS representatives assisting merchants to set up their Soundboxes, EPOS360 BlueTap device, and TNG Digital Business Accounts on the TNG eWallet app.
Through this effort, Touch ‘n Go Group is supporting local merchants with better facilities and simpler access to the digital economy ahead of the busy Ramadan period. By helping traders operate in a more organised setting and take their first steps into digital tools, Touch ‘n Go Group is making it easier for small businesses to grow, stay competitive, and continue serving their communities in Lembah Pantai throughout Ramadan.
Touch ‘n Go Group has a long-standing collaboration with YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil to support local communities in Lembah Pantai. Through initiatives like this, the Group aims to provide practical support that helps small traders prepare for Ramadan while strengthening ties within the local community.
Praba Sangarajoo, Chief Executive Officer of Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd, said, “Touch ‘n Go has operated in Malaysia for 30 years, assisting Malaysians with seamless mobility whilst contributing back to the communities. Ramadan is a meaningful time to give back, and we are glad to support local traders by helping them better prepare for the festive period ahead. Small businesses play an important role in our communities, and we hope this initiative will make a positive difference for them throughout the month.”
Alan Ni, Chief Executive Officer of TNG Digital, said, “Many micro and small merchants want to join the digital economy but are unsure where to start. As Ramadan bazaars become busier, we’re going on the ground helping traders get started with simple and practical tools. The Touch ’n Go eWallet Soundbox provides instant payment confirmation giving the merchants confidence and peace of mind during peak hours. For those ready to go further, EPOS360 BlueTap democratises tap-and-pay by allowing them to accept payments from any eWallet and any card, using just an NFC-enabled smartphone. By lowering these barriers, we help merchants serve customers faster and take part in the digital economy at their own pace.”
Touch ‘n Go Group remains committed to supporting local communities and promoting digital inclusion across Malaysia. As Ramadan approaches, the Group hopes this initiative will help strengthen community ties while supporting the livelihoods of small local businesses.
